2. Description
The EpiChron Research Group on Chronic Diseases is focused on the study of chronic diseases and multimorbidity. It belongs to the Spanish National Health System (SNS), through the IACS, and it is composed of 14 members, including clinicians, epidemiologists, and statisticians. Multimorbidity and comorbidity of major chronic diseases (e.g., diabetes, COPD, heart failure, dementia) are being studied, as well as patterns of polypharmacy and other pharmaco-epidemiology approaches. The Group has participated in national and European research projects and has published up to 60 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals during the last years. The Group has conformed a population cohort (EpiChron cohort) which links clinical and demographic information of the inhabitants of Aragón (1.3M) for scientific purposes, and it is currently coordinating a multicentric RCT on multimorbidity and polypharmacy.
