Been founded in 1981, BIPS is one of the oldest epidemiological research institutes in Germany. BIPS is organised in four departments (Biometry & Data Management, Clinical Epidemiology, Epidemiological Methods & Etiologic Research, Prevention and Evaluation) each chaired by a professor of the university, and has longstanding expertise in planning, co-ordinating and conducting multi-centre, large-scale (pharmaco)epidemiological studies.
