The PHARMO Database Network is a population-based network of healthcare databases and combines data from different healthcare settings in the Netherlands .These different data sources, including general practitioner, in- and out-patient pharmacy, clinical laboratory, hospitals, cancer registry, pathology registry and perinatal registry, are linked on a patient level through validated algorithms.

The longitudinal nature of the PHARMO Database Network system enables to follow-up more than 10 million persons of a well-defined population in the Netherlands for an average of twelve years. Currently, the PHARMO Database Network covers over 7 million active persons out of 17 million inhabitants of the Netherlands.
