2. Description
We are a research group within the Dept of Pharmacy and Pharmacology with strong links to the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases. We use local and national healthcare databases including the Clinical Practice Research Datalink, to study drug use, drug safety and disease epidemiology with a special interest in drug safety in pregnancy and in older people. We have a strong research interest in musculoskeletal disease including biomarkers, disease presentation, treatment outcome, drug safety and drug utilisation and have links to multiple centres both nationally and internationally.
All of our research is conducted with input by clinicians in the relevant discipline and with specialist statistical and programming support. Our research team consists of a Professor in Pharmacoepidemiology who is also a Consultant Rheumatologist, a Senior Lecturer in Statistics and Epidemiology, a senior database manager and programmer, a number of post-doctoral research fellows and PhD students
