ENCePP Work Plan 2011-2012

The ENCePP Steering Group has adopted the ENCePP Work Plan 2011-2012. Building on the initial phase of establishment, during 2011 and 2012 the priority will be to consolidate ENCePP as an important and internationally renowned resource in the field of pharmacovigilance and pharmacoepidemiology that delivers for health protection and promotion.

Public Consultation - Summary of comments received

The comments received in response to the public consultations on the ENCePP Code of Conduct and the Checklist of Methodological Standards for ENCePP Study Protocols and their outcomes have been published on the ENCePP website.

Launch of E-Register of Studies

On 18 November 2010, the European Network of Centres for Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacovigilance (ENCePP) launched the electronic ENCePP Register of Studies (E-Register of Studies) that aims to provide a publicly accessible resource for the registration of pharmacoepidemiological and pharmacovigilance studies.

Registration of studies in the E-Register of Studies is one of the "CoRe requirements" of being an "ENCEPP Study" and is, therefore, mandatory for “ENCePP Studies” only. All other studies, including those that do not qualify as an "ENCePP Study" (e.g. studies that have already started) can still register in the E-Register of Studies and their submission is encouraged.

Public Consultation: ENCePP Guide on Methodological Standards in Pharmacoepidemiology

On 5 November 2010, a public consultation was launched on a draft Guide on Methodological Standards in Pharmacoepidemiology. The Guide seeks to assure high quality pharmacoepidemiological "ENCePP Studies", to fuel learned regulatory decision making and to stimulate innovation that benefits patients and public health at large.

ENCePP Plenary Meeting -18 November 2010

The next ENCePP Plenary meeting will take place on Thursday, 18 November 2010, 9.30-16.30 at the European Medicines Agency in London. ENCePP partners wishing to nominate a representative who will attend this event are invited to do so via the electronic pre-registration form.

European Medicines Agency awards first 'ENCePP study' seal for post-marketing study

The European Medicines Agency and the European Network of Centres for Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacovigilance (ENCePP) have awarded the first 'ENCePP study' seal to an observational study investigating the "long-term outcomes and adverse events of therapy with inhaled corticosteroids, long-acting beta-2-agonists and anticholinergic drugs in hospitalised patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)". The study is coordinated by the Department of Epidemiology, Lazio Regional Health Service.

ENCePP Code of Conduct - Revision 1

On 12 September 2010 the ENCePP Steering Group adopted a revision of the Code of Conduct and implementation guidance to clarify the conditions of providing access to study data.

Funding Opportunities for Adverse Drug Reaction Research through the European Commission's 7th Framework Programme

In an effort to stimulate collaboration and thus facilitate the establishment of consortia, the ENCePP Secretariat has created a new section in the ENCePP partners' forum entitled "FP7 5th Call", with subsections for each topic. We hope this will give ENCePP partners the opportunity to express their interest in participating (or even leading a project consortium!)  in each individual topic.
